The York National Bookfair has become an eagerly anticipated fixture in the city’s cultural calendar attracting visitors and sellers from across the UK and beyond. This year’s event is set to impress once again, with a showcase of books, maps, ephemera and prints from an international collection of booksellers.
This year’s fair will feature over 185 exhibitors. An impressive increase from the modest 20 who showcased their books at the first ever fair at the White Swan Inn, York, in 1974. 50 years on and the York Book Fair has grown into the largest, and many say friendliest, rare, antiquarian & out-of-print book fair in the U.K and Europe. Held over two days, the country's leading booksellers will offer for sale an awe-inspiring array of books, as well as maps & prints. Items available for sale will range in price from just a few pounds up to tens of thousands of pounds.
For those with an interest in books and reading, maps and ephemera, this is the event to come along to. This is not just a Fair for dealers or traders, but is open to everyone young and old, and is a great place to start collecting. With over 100,000 books for sale, where else can you look at, touch, enjoy, and even purchase so many rarities under one roof.
