Easter Family Trail at Castle Howard and the Arboretum
Step into spring with a family adventure trail across the Castle Howard Gardens and Arboretum this Easter.
Sat 28th March - Sun 19th April 2026
Owl has invited his woodland friends to take part in a very special spring competition. Who can create the shiniest bird box? Robin, Kingfisher, Swallow and Song Thrush have been busy building their most beautiful nests, each hoping to impress. Follow Owl on his journey through the Gardens and Arboretum, discover each dazzling creation and help answer the questions along the way.
Young explorers who complete the trail will be rewarded with their own prize at the finish, including delicious chocolate treats supplied by Autism Plus in Knaresborough.
The trail stretches between Castle Howard and the Arboretum, so why not make a full day of it and experience both? It’s the perfect way to celebrate the Easter holidays together.
All bird boxes on the trail have been created by local printmaker, Gerard Hobson, and there is a selection of his works available to purchase from the gift shops on site.
